Before I took Art and Design, my older sister's boyfriend and I set up our own ambition to film our own stop-motion animated film based on Roald Dahl's poem 'The Crocodile.' We used Lego and loose objects to animate the story. This did involve smearing Lego figures with mustard and butterscotch, as per Dahl's poem.
The first animation I produced in Art and Design involved Warhammer models in battle with each other. To fire guns, the models moved as if actually firing and stock photos of the desired effects were rendered into the photos I took. The muzzle flare had to vary in opacity to ensure continuity.
For more technologically advanced weapons, I downloaded stock laser photos and rendered them the same as I rendered muzzle flare. I duplicated the lasers to make it look like the weapons were firing multiple shots.
The next animation task was producing a web animation reflecting a period of Art History. I chose Art Deco because of its connection to the steam railway and animated a steam engine to chuff into stations build on varying stages of Art Deco.
